Nokia 8: First Flagship Device From Nokia Price, Specs


Finnish Tech Giant Nokia has launched it's much awaited Nokia 8 in India at Rs 36,999, let's see what it offers at this price.

Design

At first look Nokia 8 is a attention seeker. Nokia 8 has a 6000-series Aluminum unibody which makes it very strong and beautiful and gives very premium look to it. On the front panel it has the camera and flash on the left corner with microphone beside it, and Nokia branding on the right side. At the bottom, it houses the physical home button cum fingerprint sensor and backlit keys on both sides of it. On the back, Nokia 8 has dual camera setup and LED flash and  'Nokia' branding (vertically aligned) below the camera module. On the top end there is a 3.5mm headphone jack. On the left edge it houses the volume rockers and power button.On the bottom end it has the  charging port and speaker grills. On the right edge it houses the  dual SIM hybrid slot tray. Nokia 8 measures 151.55x73.7x7.90mm which is quite slim. Nokia 8 is the first smartphone that comes with OZO spatial 360 degree audio technology by which you will get high quality stereo sound, making your music listening and media viewing an unforgettable experience.

Display

Nokia 8 has a 5.3 inch IPS LCD Quad HD (2560x1440p) screen with Gorilla Glass 5 shield and 2.5D curved glass on the edges. Nokia 8 is splash resistant and has IP54 certification. It also has Always On display, which Nokia itself started.

Camera

Nokia 8 is the first device from Nokia after Nokia's separation from Microsoft which will have Carl Zeiss optics. Nokia 8 comes with two 13MP cameras on the back with f/2.0 aperture, one is 13MP RGB sensor and other one is 13MP Monochrome sensor.It has Phase Detection Auto  Focus (PDAF) , Laser Autofocus and has dual tone LED flash. On the front it has top-notch 13MP selfie shooter with flash. Both rear and front cameras comes with 4K video recording capabilities. It also has a special mode known as the"bothie mode" which allows users to click photos or record video using both the cameras , both split into two equal halves on the screen. It can also be streamed live directly to Facebook Live or YouTube using the camera app.

OS And Processor, 

Nokia 8 comes packed with a 2.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core chipset which is Qualcomm's most powerful processor up to date.
Like it's brothers, Nokia 8 also runs on  pure Android OS and features Android Nougat 7.1.1, interestingly, it will be the first non-pixel phone to get the latest Android O update.
Nokia 8 will not have any heating problem as it has a copper pipe and graphite shield to transfer heat embedded in it's body. This will eradicate the issues of users related to heating.

Memory and Battery

 Nokia 8  backed by 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM which can be extended up to 256GB via microSD card slot. Nokia 8 is powered by a 3,090mAh Li-ion battery with Type C v3.1 USB charging port which is equipped with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.

Verdict

Nokia 8 is priced Rs 36,999 which looks reasonable going by the brand "Nokia". At this price it faces tough competition from OnePlus 5, Honor 8 Pro, LG G6, and LG V30 . But it totally depends on the users whether they want to buy a "Nokia" branded device or not.It will be made available in three colour options: Tempered Blue, Silver and Copper Gold.
